Murder of Florida College Student Miya Marcano

In the early hours of September 24, 2021, 19-year-old Miya Marcano was reported missing. According to her family she missed a flight to Fort Lauderdale and stopped responding to texts and calls. Two hours later, Marcano’s family confronts a maintenance worker, Armando Caballero, outside the apartment building. Caballero was interested in Marcano romantically, but she had rebuffed his advances. He began sending her obscene messages.
Marcano’s family informed police that Caballero was seen with a glove, backpack, and a pink blanket belonging to Marcano. That evening, Caballero disappeared.
Police discover that shortly after 2PM on the day Marcano went missing, a maintenance key fob was used to enter her apartment. Two hours later, the maintenance key fob was used again to enter the apartment, just thirty minutes before Marcano’s shift at the leasing office ended.
Less than an hour later, Caballero’s vehicle left the apartment complex.
Marcano’s key fob is used on the exterior lock of her apartment, but no one enters. Twenty minutes later, Caballero’s vehicle leaf the apartment complex again. Between 8:20-8:40PM, Caballero’s phone is pinged near the Tymber Skan Apartments.
Before police could issue an arrest warrant, Caballero was found dead in a garage from an apparent suicide.
On October 2, a body believed to be Marcano is discovered near the Tymber Skan Apartments. Three days later, she is positively identified. According to reports, she had been found bound with tape around her feet/wrists and covering her mouth.
Police conclusively believe that Caballero is responsible for the crime and they are not looking for any other suspects.
